My entry for the Gothic Challenge this month over on the
The Woman in Sorrow image I made into a tag.
The image reminded me of love + loss.
Over on the fripperiesandbutterflies.blogspot.com/
is a wicked Steampunk Mermaids challenge!
This is my entry. Using the design given, I made this large tag.
Distressed the edges, then layered it on gold mesh ribbon + a steampunk mermaid paper background. I distressed the edges of that paper using Vintage Photo distress oxide ink.
A ripped + distressed edge piece of marbled paper on the top.
On the top of the tag is patina brass clock hands
The bottom of the tag features a ships wheel with a vintage brass cog. A spinner in the center.
I also added some copper toned die cut coral
My trio of Steampunk Mermaids!
LOVE AT THE HELM
I created this ship wheel photo frame using a wood frame + a beautiful image from this GG sheet
I 3d her using foam tape
I used my distress oxide sprays on the frame, then added texture pastes in patina shades
A cluster of blue cheesecloth, vintage papers, a shell, starfish, flower + a verse snippet on the bottom corner
A paper flower + brass rope anchor finish off the piece
As soon as I saw this gorgeous image on the GG sheet
I knew she would be part of my next project. I cut the image and made her bigger to make this 8" x 10" reverse canvas.
Cheesecloth, mod podge, pearl sprays + my imagination
The picture in the center that I added touches of vintage rhinestone chain, druzy, horn shells, pearls more
She is whispering to the seahorse....underwater magic I'm sure
The edges of the canvas are adorned in large shells I painted + sprayed, glass beads, pearls, a trident + rose compass and a large vintage rhinestone pretty
LOST LOVES ATC Cards
Atcs about lost love as the men sail out to sea
The ladies images are from Mystic Fantasy Collage Set
The ships are from Sail Away
The background paper is Wonderful Watercolors ATC Set
I added nautical wood accents + sticker verses
The cards have been mounted on white corrugated paper
On the backs, are the new GG ATC Backs. I used this set
I think they really just finish off the cards!
Now I'm off to dream about the Sea!
YEEHAW! I found my inner cowgirl with this months Gecko Galz challenge
My 1st project is this boot kicking Old West Saloon.
I had my bff build the saloon out of wood.
Painted it in old wood colors, then added wood grain digital paper
Yep, those saloon doors actually swing open + close!
A cow skull on the top of the building, as well as a wood wagon wheel, adds to the theme.
I also built a small bench to sit on the boardwalk.
An old cowboy sittin here, wondering where all the cowgirls came from!
Gecko Galz has these wicked awesome retro cowgirl images!
I cut some out and adhered them to the saloon rails. Others I glued them to a base so they would stand up, + also added a WANTED poster.
Got the boot shape from Pinterest. Cut it out on white cardstock.
Used some plaid paper from my stash for the main boot, + brown textured paper for the boot heel, sole + leather strap.
Did stitching with a white paint pen
I love the image of the hard working cowgirl in the center. I glued her to another "stitched leather" adornment.
On the top of the boot strap is a red brad.
I also edged the entire card in Vintage Photo ink.
WELL BEHAVED COWGIRLS RARELY MAKE HISTORY TAG
A fun cowgirl tag, using this kick ass tag from Gecko Galz. Its from their Ride em Cowgirl digital craft kit
The southwestern blank tag with a cutout cowgirl image that has been 3d to the tag.
In the corner I made a leather look corner pocket using a cut up brown paper bag that I first colored with vintage photo oxide ink, then crumpled it up, smoothed it out, then rubbed black dye ink over the crumples. Makes it look like worn leather.
A western ticket over top.
I made a rope lasso. Its hanging from the word tag. There is also a gun charm on the top.
Finished it off with a blue brad on the southwest tag.
This month I have decided to switch things up abit.
There will be a SWAP + a CHALLENGE

This month my Designer Challenge for Gecko Galz, was
SECRET GARDENThis theme makes me think of a wonderful flower garden, with fairies, toadstools, a fairy frog, and lots of butterflies!
I created this Fairy Secret Garden Shrine using
Magical cutouts, moss, a wooden shrine, see thru vellum and a tealight
The back drop of the shrine is a design I printed in vellum from one of the fantasy digital ATC sheets
I edged the shrine with real twigs
You really need to check out the GG Storybook Garden Craft Kit. Its MAGICAL!!
I also used my own stash of paper flowers + clear backed butterflies
A brick stencil + texture paste created the crumbling brick wall bits on the sides of the shrine
The 2nd project I made is a Journal Cover
Lots of layers + 3d mount tape to create height + illusion
I then added some paper flowers, ribbon, and wrought iron gate die cut
I've picked 2 of my favorite things this month for my new May ATC Swap

I created this witch tombstone using her image
An ominous witch overshadowing an old cemetery
She kinda reminded me of the witch from The Blair Witch Project
When I printed her out, she came out in black + purple as my ink is running out, but I think she looks cool this way
I mounted the image onto a black foam core tombstone shape that I cut by hand
Using tombstone silhouettes, I added them to the bottom using foam tape
A raven done the same way, sits on the witches shoulder
Blackened cheesecloth around the edge of the tombstone.
Another silhouette of a row of tombstones, sits around the bottom
All ye who enter here"
Up on the FripperiesandButterflies blog
is an awesome Steampunk challenge using this wicked Owl image
I created a Steampunk Owl Journal Cover
The background is burgundy suede paper
The main image in the center. I distressed the edges, then added gold ink
Strips of digital papers with a distress leather look design on either side
Chipboard gears + a key, which have been sprayed in gold ink, then I added patina texture paste
On the bottom is a copper set of wings, with a spinning brass propellor
Whos up for a challenge?

Bluebird Mini Book
Mini Chipboard Tab Folder
Brass Binder Rings
8 x 8 canvas

Is yet another fabulously wicked challenge!
I have created a 5 x 7 canvas with this beautiful eerie design
I painted the canvas black, then did a spray over using distress ink in hickory smoke
Printed off 2 of the main designs on cardstock
Distressed the edges of 1, then glued it to the canvas
The other print, I cut out the woman image, and 3D her over the other image using foam tape
The purple curtain is from a Tim Holtz Idea-ology pack
I 3d that as well.
I cut out a candlestick from my stash, and glued it to the fireplace mantel
Vintage black lace edges the bottom
A metal hand on the quote + a vintage metal diamond shaped earring with metal points hanging from the bottom
I also added a purple Swarovski crystal to the top of the earring
Using a quote from a Gecko Galz Gothic digi, I distressed the edges, then edged it in both purple + pink distress ink.
"I myself am strange + unusual"
