I created this wood anchor for a Gecko Gal Ocean theme challenge.
The anchor base is wood. Its 14" tall
First, I glued sea shells, paper flowers, a seahorse shape, art stones, + the word Memories on the anchor.
I then painted it in white gesso. Then it got painted in 2 shades of ocean blue. A white wash over that, and let it dry.
Using the dry brush technique, I dry brushed the edges in white.
Let dry
Using Vintage Silk wax paste, I edged the whole piece. I also highlighted the shells, etc, with the same paste. Then I did the same thing with Aged Brass wax.
Over the chipboard sea horse shape, I glued on a smaller die cut paper seahorse in mermaid scale paper.
The 3d piece I added was made with layers of cheesecloth, vintage laces, Lindys Spray in Sea Opal, chipboard, a flat backed glass marble, painted rope netting, a die cut starfish, with sea shell sequins and a flat back pearl center, and a beautiful blue seahorse picture from Gecko Galz SEALIFE sheet.
A pretty blue transparent butterfly was adhered to the top of the anchor.
A fun piece to bring back your SEASIDE MEMORIES!
