Dreamers of Dreams

So, I just made this piece for the Dec Gecko Galz Challenge.
The challenge is called DREAMY
This is my interpretation
I started off with a wooden easel 6" x 8"
Taking a few different shades of blue acrylic paint, I painted it all to resemble a sky. Let dry

Using a pouncer brush, I did a dry brush technique to form clouds.
While they were trying, I decided on my digital focal point. the one I chose is from the DREAMLAND sheet.
I edged the edges in gold wax paste and set aside.
Next, I checked placement for my pic, then took some metallic die cut gears, and glued them to the wood.
My picture was glued over top.
I cut out butterflies from scrapbook paper, folded them in the middle to make their wings stand up, and glued them randomly in the background. I then cut out seagulls + used 3d pop dots.
Lastly, I glued the die cut word Believe to the bottom, then  stamped + embossed the dream verse + glued it to the top.
Then I added a few painted chipboard gears around my pic.

What do you dream?

Christmas Pyramid Box

This pyramid box is from a template I got free at Stampingtons & Co
I knew I wanted to make it into a Christmas gift box
I used one of the triangles on the box and made a template.
I then picked out a decorative piece of scrapbook paper I had in my stash, and cut out 4 triangles.
These were glued to the box.  Punch holes with a 1/2" hole punch through all 4 of the pyramid pieces, near the top.

The square on the top-I first cut it on in chipboard, then in 2 pieces of the scrapbook paper.Glue the paper on both sides.
Set aside.
Using my sizzix, I cut 6 filigree corners from glitter paper.
Glue 4 of them to the bottom center of each side. The other 2 I glued to 2 corners on the lid.
To add some pizzazz, I did a swipe of aged brass wax over the paper on each box side.

Using images from Gecko Galz digital sheets, Christmas Cuties + Christmas Haberdashery, cut 4 images for each side of the box.
Pop dots make them stand up on the box, and show up really well.

Now, depending on what you are going to use the box for, you can either use a 2-sided tape to glue the box sides together, ( after you have folded it), or just fold it up together and put the square piece over the top. I used the sticky tape.
I then added 2 pretty pointsetta 3d stickers to 2 corners of the box square.

Last but not least, cut a twig or a dowel, to fit thru the holes thru the top of the pyramid box as shown in pics.
I used a twig that I painted in copper metallic paint.
Put the twig thru the holes.
I then added a skeleton key charm, a copper tassel, + a glass bead drop, by using a gold twist tie.
You could use this box as a gift box, or by adding some pretty ribbon to the other 2 holes on the point of the pyramid, it could become a tree decoration. I glued Swarovski crystals to the holes.

Twistoon Progressive Challenge-Cranky Old Lady with Sign

Im always up for a Twistoon challenge.
This month, its a lady with a sign.
I decided to make her into a cranky old broad, bitchin about her turkey stuffing. Hehe
I colored the image with Prismacolor Premier markers.
Doesnt she look stylish in her red shoes?
I used a wood grain
stencil on the sign post to get the wood look.
The message on the sign is hand written in black ink.
I took some dark red decorative scrapbook paper and cut out a rectangle.
Added a frame with more scrapbook paper in a blue/white design
Using pop dots, I added my old lady, that I cut out, inside the frame.
On each corner of the frame, I cut out 4 snowflake circles and glued them in place.
On the back, ( not shown), I put a heavy glittered cardstock.
Punched holes on the top corners, and tied on some red elastic ribbon to make a hanger.
Voila! Cranky old lady ready to insult my next guest in my kitchen! :)

RETRO CHRISTMAS CARDS

Even tho I wasnt born till the late 50s, I love me some retro!
These fun Christmas retro digitals from Gecko Galz on etsy, are called Ring a ding ding
I used metallic cardstock for my base card.
Cut out and glued the images on the card, then cut out thin strips of the metallic cardstock, and used that to make frames for my images.
I found some retro puffy stickers from my local dollar store.
The small stickers fit well around the frames and on the corners.
Wanting to add some 3d effects, I added some embellishments to match the card images.
Using the same retro digital sheet, ( I printed out 2 copies),
I cut apart some of the words to make greetings on each card.
Lastly, I used another strip pf the metallic cardstock to add to the side of each card.
A simple sentiment inside each, and they are ready to mail out.

Winter Deer

Sometimes you just have to GLITTER!!
As soon as I started creating this reverse canvas winter deer scene, I knew it was going to be a glittery wonderland.
I used a deer in trees die cut, cut out in metallic turquoise.
Rows of the die cut forest, were cut out in cobalt blue, turquoise and silver metallic cardstock.
The tree branches on the top are done in the same way.
I painted the background in white, then a snow texture, then added silver glitter.
Branches painted in blue, then rolled in blue glitter with stars, were added to the edges of the canvas.
I added more snow texture on the branches to look like drifting snow. Some quick details; snow on forest trees, flat back sparkly and pearl jewels in the background, and of course, more GLITTER!

Peace on Earth

This is a piece I just made for the November customer challenge on the GeckoGalz blog. The theme is Peace on Earth.
I created my design on a 8" x 8" tin tile. I colored the embossed design using my Premier Prismacolor markers. The center is a pc of designer paper I had. the paper is edged with a blue distress ink pad. 2 layers of a diecut frame, in 2 sizes, frame the image of the sweet girl from the Christmas Cuties GG sheet.
The edges of the die cut frames are done in embossing powders. I used pop dots to raise the image of the girl. 2 coordinating Christmas Cuties on the sides of the tile. On the bottom is diecut trees in glitter blue. I finished off the tile with a gold diecut filigree under a blue glittered chipboard Peace.

Miniature Winter Animal Dioramas

As you can see, I adore the digital sheets from GeckoGalz on Etsy!
I just finished making a few of these miniature dioramas using The Frosty Garden set. The images on this sheet are just too cute.
I used a salmon can for a recycle project, as well as some masonite boxes from RetroArtCafe. these containers were all the perfect size for my mini winter scenes.
I 3D'd the animals and birds so they popped on the scene. Added bits of greenery and red berries, my homemade snow, wooden details that I painted, icicles, lights, acrylic snowflakes and snowy pinecones.

These would also work great in Altoid tins

Gypsy Fortune Booth

I think I musta been a gypsy in another life, as I love making Gypsy art.

.

The wicked Gypsy image from Gecko Galz on Etsy, was my focal point
Using a Masonite ATC Hutch Shrine Kit  from RetroArtCafe, I transformed it into a Gypsy Fortune Booth.
I painted the inside of the booth using Art Alchemy Metallic Coral Reef
Added some black glass bead ribbon to the back
I 3D'd the gypsy image using foam dots
A crystal ball, ( large color changing marble, on a bead cap)
Miniature Tarot cards on the bottom

A lantern and some word die cuts surround the Gypsy
I used designer papers to cover the back, sides and top.
Edged the sides in black dresden
Your fate awaits is a paper cut with a black glitter paper behind it with 2 hand embellishments
The sides are decorated with Mystical charms and words
On the back is Oddities & a sign showing palm reading
